My thanks to all our Vets that gave of their time, effort, health, blood, sweat and tears to keep our country and many others free, from the founding of our nation to this very minute. I'd also like to thank all their loved ones from spouses to children to friends to neighbors who worried, corresponded and supported all those that gave their all. We are a blessed and lucky people to have had so many willing to stand rough and ready to protect us. Michelle has a
wonderful piece here and
Jeanette posts a moving poem that really sets a wonderful tone to remember them by. I can't shake the feeling that this country is truly blessed.
Addendum: John is going to a parade today for Vets Day and reminds us that it wasn't only the American soldier that fought for us,
we had allies too over the yearsI will be in the Leavenworth Veteran's Day Parade today. The theme is
Supporting America. I'll be on the Rotary Club float - with the Castle
Vickers, made up as it is of British, Australian, and Canadian parts -
and I'll be wearing the Aussie slouch hat given me by an Australian
soldier I served with - because our theme is Rotary Honors All the
Veterans, foreign and domestic, who have, in one way or another,
Supported America.
